Description: An interesting bit of ephemera from 1906 with graphics including a century old Singer Sewing Machine Co. logo and a SINGER background. Questions abound. The certification confirms that, upon payment of 6 pounds, Mabel Byram became the proud owner of the identified machine and model. Quick review of model indicates this was a common residential/home model. The document is likely from the Singer Scottish Clydebank factory with Ms. Byram residing in Leeds England some distance south of the factory. Unless Singer had a network of retailers in place as distributing middlemen between factory and customer? There is a British stamp on the front that does not appear to have been cancelled by the post office. The date of sale has been handwritten across the front of the stamp- likely by Marge Butterworth the Singer employee signing the certificate. Perhaps the stamp was the Company's way of sealing the deal without a seal? Handwriting verso indicates Mabel made her way to Alberta Canada where she was married and then passes away in 1914. This certification and invoice was found in Lewisburg Pennsylvania. Go figure. Please see and zoom the photos for condition issues. Combined shipping available. Thanks for looking.
