CATEGORY: Location – Missouri TYPE: Vintage Color Postcard DESCRIPTION: Lafayette Park was set aside from the St. Louis Common in 1836 and dedicated in 1851 as one of the first public parks, and by the largest of its era, in the City of St. Louis. It is considered by many historians to be the oldest urban park west of the Mississippi. Forest Park, however, is about 50x larger than Lafayette Park. CONDITION: Used and mailed – 1908. Minor corner and edge wear. Soiling and age tanning. Good to Very Good condition. Sold AS IS. Look carefully at the pictures to Judge Condition for Yourself.
