Description: Antique Divided Back FOURTH OF JULY INDEPENDENCE DAY Holiday Postcard EMBOSSED PC Circa 1907-1915. Card is unposted with a very brief message and address written in pencil on the back. Depicts PRESIDENT GEORGE WASHINGTON, AMERICA'S FIRST PRESIDENT and LARGELY REGARDED as the FATHER OF OUR COUNTRY. Has a nice PORTRAIT of Washington surrounded by VARIOUS SYMBOLS OF AMERICA SUCH as the BALD EAGLE, the AMERICAN FLAG, the PEN USED to SIGN the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, and at the top of the scrolled frame containing his portrait are the Latin words, "E PLURIBUS UNUM", which in English mean, "Out of Many, One". In an inset off to the side is an illustration of Washington's home in New York as seen in 1789. At the bottom, are the dates of Washington's birth and death (Feb. 22, 1732 - Dec. 14, 1799). Card is in good condition according to the Postcard Rating System with a couple of mild creases in each of the 2 top corners and a couple of faint dirt smudges in the light border area just above the view of Washington's home in New York. Otherwise, I see no evidence of edge wear, rips, tears, bends, or pinholes. But, please see photos and you be the judge. Standard size 5.5” x 3.5”.
