Description: Vintage Menu Click images to enlarge Description Very Rare Vintage Four Page Menu is printed on quality card stock and measures approximately 3-1/2" x 4-7/8". The front of the menu features an embossed design consisting of crossed flags, one a 46 star United States Flag, and the other the flag of France. The following information is printed above and beneath the flags in gold lettering: La Prevoyance Boston - 1916 The "SOUPER" menu is printed in French. Noteworthy is the fact that the 46 star flag was only current in the United States from 1908-1912, four years before this event. Also, the dinner took place while France was at war in World War I, but prior to involvement by the United States. "La Prevoyance" appears to contemplate activities related to social welfare or insurance, so perhaps the dinner was attended by those sympathetic to these causes. Historical reference is also made to the celebration or recognition of France's Bastille Day by some in Boston during the first part of the 20th century. With respect to the menu, this can only be speculation since the event/menu is undated. The Rare Vintage Menu is in bound with a short cord, and in Good Condition for its Considerable Age, with only minor edge wear, discoloration on the lower front, chipped corner and very short tear on the bottom of the fold line likely due to many years of past storage.
