Description: "The Palace Of Minos At Knossos" 6-Volume set by Arthur Evans. Printed 1921-1935 by MacMillan. This is a very rare desired archaeological set, particularly in this early printing. All are profusely illustrated hardcover books. The set included volumes I, II Part I, II Part II, III, IV Part I, IV Part 2. Several volumes have pockets in the back with folded plans and maps, an example of which is shown in the 9th picture. All of them are here, to the best of my knowledge. Ex-library set in generally good condition overall for a large old set, but displays a fair amount of overall wear. There are light to moderate spine breaks throughout the set. There are a few places in the volumes where the binding is splitting, although it is not completely separated anywhere. There are some library markings and some places where library cards have been pulled off the inside back covers. A few pages (I saw about 5, but there could be a few more) have tiny rips on the edges, probably from handling at the library. Some of the later pages in Volume IV Part II are slightly bent. They have never completely bent, but like something happened to just barely bend them. There is a small piece of cloth tape on the lower part of the rear hinge in volumes II, III, and IV Part I; although none of them appear to have been noticeably cracking. A few of the fold-out maps have small patches on inside corners. I assume these have been added later. There is an error in the ToC in Volume II Part II - the plate that is in supposed to be before p. 725 is actually in front of p. 707. Actually, other than the few places where the binding is splitting, they are in remarkably good condition for older ex-library books like this.
