Description: Antique coin bank from Bankers Utilities Co. was patented July 3, 1923. This book bank, made of durable metal in the United States (1923), as a gift for a new baby boy. As the child matured, people could add more money in the top slot. The baby's book bank could only be opened at their bank. (However I looked on the internet and found a way to open the bank. In a search engine I put "How to open Book of Thrift" and used a paper clip - which is not included!!!) The front says "The First National Bank "Where Savings are Safe" Bedford Schellsburg. The back says "For Baby". "Book of Thrift" is on the binding. This unique Book Bank is a real part of American History and a wonderful addition to any collection of vintage items. Blue accents on actual Book Bank and original box. Over 100 years old in Excellent Condition! - Please see photos!
