Binding solid, with a few light marks. Pages generally bright and clean, with a few minor handling marks and blemishes. Minor age-toning to text leaves. Map of Sikkim slightly creased along fore-edge where it sits slightly proudly from the text block. Light creasing in a few places. There are approx. 76 full-page plates [inc. map of Waziristan bound after prelims], of which 2 are in colour, plus two fold-out and double-page maps [Sikkim Himalayas and Bay of Bombay], and a fold-out table game shot on the royal visit. This copy was perviously in the library of former Smithsonian president and ornithologist S. Dillon Ripley.Some of the more notable papers include 'Dragonfly collecting in India.
