In near fine condition with just the slightest wear to the corners and spine tips. Typed letter to Zane Grey from famed publisher A.L Burt: An early Typed Letter in very good condition, signed to author Zane Grey from Publisher A.L. Burt. The letter is dated August 15, 1910, while Grey was still living in Lackawaxen, Pa. Typed on A.L. Burt letterhead, and measuring 5.5 x 8.5 inches with two vertical folds, adhered to part of the original envelope most likely for filing purposes. The note also contains a holograph postscript in ink. A.L. Burt had published two early Zane Grey books including "The Spirit of the Border" in 1906 and "The Last Trail" in 1909. Grey had recently signed a lucrative contract with Harper & Brothers who published his fourth title in 1910 entitled "The Heritage of the Desert." The letter reads in part; "I have been reading "Heritage of the Desert"...The strong virile characters depicted, the many dramatic occurrences and the description of the country all combine to make it to my mind a very strong book, well worth reading. I predict for the book, if the Harper people put their money behind it, a large sale as fiction goes. I think you have a winner in the book." Burt also includes a holograph postscript "PS I want a few lines from you, Biographical." Overall, a very good or better set from Zane Grey's own collection.
