Description: Featured is a micro miniature First Edition copy of the Addresses of Abraham Lincoln ... published in 1929 by the Student Training Division of the Kingsport Press (Tennessee). Bound in Red Morocco Leather w/ Gilt Stamped Decor to Cover/Spine, and Gilt Edges. The book is more specifically known as belonging to the collecting category of Microbibliography. Kingsport Press was established in 1922 in Kingsport, Tennessee as part of a planned industrial community financed by New York bankers Blair and Company. In 1925, Elbridge Woodman Palmer became president, and served for 29 years. Under his direction, the Press expanded and diversified into the publication of textbooks and encyclopedias. As a result Kingsport enjoyed a thriving business. Walter F. Smith, who became president in 1954, instituted new methods of cloth manufacture and gold stamping. The company's product lines continued to expand throughout the 1950s. In 1969, Kingsport Press merged with Arcata National Corporation. The company would start to change hands more frequently until it ceased operation. This early publication - done by choice and as a labor love by the "Student Trainees" who were dedicated to the production of fine books under the auspices of an extraordinary Press - has served the test of time as one of the finest micro publications in America. It was also the first relative to subject matter to be devoted to a US President. Lincoln was their choice. In "Inches" lingo, the micro book measures 5/8" x 7/8" x 2/8". Approx 340 pages. Touted as "America's Smallest Book" upon publication. This has been in my personal collection for approximately 30 years. As stated above, I have neither seen nor sold a finer copy. Domestic Shipping for this item by USPS Priority Mail - small flat rate box so as not to get harmed or lost in shuffle - to include tracking and insurance. We are happy to combine shipping where able. Be sure to check out our other offerings. Selling on eBay as early as 1997. "The Mermaid" is also still a bonded auctioneer and real estate broker who spent the past "many" decades' specializing in books, ephemera, estates, and real estate. Just shy of two million books sold to date. Books and paper aside, if it is "Stuff", she has sold it! She has now returned to eBay. Health issues have brought us back. We are even selling our own collections! And ... we are picky. If we wouldn't add it to our own collections, we won't sell it. Hope you find something that you want, need, and, most important of all, will enjoy! We look forward to transacting with you and making new eBay friends and customers. Thanking you for your patronage in advance ... ! As to our "standard operating procedures": Our normal shipping & handling time is three (3) days. We ship weekdays with the exception of US federal holidays. We will ship with either free shipping or calculated shipping ... it depends on the given scenario. Often, calculated shipping will include insurance - again, depending on the item. Payment is expected at time of purchase or close of auction, whichever is applicable. This also applies to "best offer accepted" transactions. Non-paying purchasers or bidders will be blocked from future transactions. The same goes for winning bidders seeking to have sales cancelled. That said, prior to the end of any auctions, bids can be cancelled through the HELP section of eBay. If respective bidders are found to be cancelling bids in an excessive manner, however, they will be blocked from future transactions. Shill bidding is not tolerated and will be reported. "The Mermaid" is happy to ship globally.** (See below.) For such transactions, "calculated" shipping fees apply and Insurance will be required if not already included in applicable postal fee. **Unfortunately, there are a few destinations to which we cannot and will not ship. That circumstance involves a fluid dynamic the specifics of which may not be clear until point of sale. If such is the case, we will allow the transaction to be cancelled at our discretion and without any negative reporting made to eBay. WE ARE GLAD TO BE BACK!
