Va., who will attempt a New York to Paris flight in June with a Fokker plane equipped with a Wright Whirlwind motor. Dougherty lost his limbs 10 years ago in a railroad accident. He is forsaking a $4,000 a year job as county assessor of New Martinsville to pursue aviation. He has been flying 18 months and holds an aviator license.
