Description: LIVING ESTATE SALE (Details at the end of description) MA/AI For your consideration is an Quality Brand / Empire B30 Electric Live Steam Engine made in the USA in the early 1930s.The B30 was the most popular engine produced by Empire. It is very sturdy with a cast iron base, heavy gauge copper and bronze. In the early stages, it was sold under the "Quality Brand" name. This engine is in good condition after going through a makeover.A lot of restoration was involved (see second photo : it shows the way it came).The heating element warms up, using the electric cord that is provided.I including a second cord. It is all original except for the whistle dome (only the dome) that is a replacement and only blows. It has been air tested (video) and should not give much trouble to operate on steam. Sometimes though, an older gasket might have dried up, needing replacement. Let's hope it's not the case. There is no corrosion (the base was repainted and baked). Two things to report : - The whistle dome as aforementioned, - A small dent on the smoke stack (photo).This engine was not steam tested. It might require a bit of tweaking but should be able to run on steam with a few adjustments and the replacement of a possible dried up gasket. Distilled water is strongly recommended. That was 65 years ago. I have been collecting them for 25 years and I am now 74. None of my descendants is interested in the collection, so I decided that it was time to liquidate.
