Description: 1930s--JOE SEWELL (INDIANS/YANKEES HOF--1977...DECEASED 1990)--HALL OF FAME SIGNED CARD...Here's a terrific over 50 year old signed Hall of Fame postcard for Indians/Yankees' shortstop JOE SEWELL....Sewell played 14 seasons from 1920-1933 for the Cleveland Indians and N.Y. Yankees....He had a lifetime batting average of .312 but is most famous for having the lowest strikeout rate in baseball history...averaging a strikeout every 63 ABs...Legend has it that in his major league career he only used one bat ("Black Betsy") which was carefully seasoned with chewing tobacco....After his baseball career he became the baseball coach for his alma mater Alabama and the current baseball field is known as "The Joe"....One of his star pitchers was NFL HOF quarterback Ken "The Snake" Stabler......This Hall of Fame card and the original signature are in near mint condition...Strong bold signature that grades at least 9/10......I acquired this signed card from a prominent sports writer for a major Chicago newspaper who personally got Joe's autograph at a card show sometime in the '80s....so it's guaranteed authentic from any major authenticator like PSA, James Spence or your money back......Buyer pays s/h cost of $3.50 (US)...California residents are also required to pay applicable California sales taxes, which will be added to invoice....
