Description: Embossed glass quart milk bottle from Ormond R. Megill of Belmar, New Jersey, circa 1930s. The bottle has embossed text on the front within a circle that reads Ormond R. Megill, Dairy Farm Products, Belmar, N.J., #2, with One Quart Liquid in an arch above the circle. There are embossed blank round marks above the shoulder on both sides, and an embossed E in a circle on the bottom. Ormond Russland Megill (1901-19??) grew up on the dairy farm in Wall, New Jersey, operated by his father, George B. Megill. In 1930, Ormond was living with his wife and two boys in Belmar and gave his occupation as Dairy, Wholesale and Retail. He gave up the dairy business some years later, relocated the family to Neptune City, and was working for a beverage company in 1940. Ormond lived the better part his life in Monmouth County, at the Jersey Shore. This seems to be a pretty rare New Jersey milk bottle. The bottle is in good or better condition with light surface wear and scratches and a bit of haze inside. There are a couple of small rust stain marks and a fair number of little flea bites on the outside. It seems to be a relatively clean example of a dug milk bottle. A nice early Belmar NJ milk bottle!
