North Ave. at Orchard St.Chicago This program / advertisement promoted movies at: CHICAGO'S PIONEER SHOWING GERMAN PICTURES AT POPULAR PRICES This program promoted "SEIN LIEBESLIED" or "HIS LOVE SONG" starring Willi Forst, Paul Otto, Fee Malten, Anne Goerling and others It measures approximately 5 3/8" x 8 1/2" with 4 pages The condition is very nice showing just minor signs of age. There are a newspaper clippings attached to the inside of the program that is a newspaper story noting that the film is being shown at the Kino Theater There is no date, however I believe that this program is from 1932 Some history about this theater: The Orchard opened around 1910, located on North Avenue near Orchard Street, in what is today the Old Town neighborhood, but what was then a mainly German area (in fact North Avenue was nicknamed “the German Broadway” around the turn of the 20th century). By the 30s, the theater, which sat almost 450, was renamed the Kino or German Kino. It closed around the 50s and has long since been demolished. There is a parking lot where the theater once stood.
