Description: PUBLISHED BY THE LIMITED EDITIONS CLUB IN 1934. 1500 numbered copies - this one is number 801 - were produced and were all SIGNED BY THE ILLUSTRATOR, RENE BEN SUSSAN. This copy also includes an Introduction by Carl Van Doren. I would grade this as FAIR CONDITION, mainly because of the condition of the dust jacket, and the presence of heavy foxing on the endpapers. The dust jacket is in two pieces, fully torn at the spine. The dust jacket could possibly be repaired or discarded - I suspect the boards are clean and very presentable as protected by the dust jacket. The front and rear endpapers are heavily foxed. The thick rag paper thereafter is clean though with a light background of foxing in the text. The illustrations have bled to the adjoining pages, but they remain bright and colorful. The School for Scandal is a comedy of manners written by Richard Brinsley Sheridan. It was first performed in London at Drury Lane Theatre on 8 May 1777. B63
