Both the engines and the passengers in the sealed in cabin are fed extra oxygen, necessary in the rarified atmosphere at high altitudes, are special turbine superchargers developed by General Electric engineers. In recent test of this plane, a Lockheed Electra built for the army air corps at Wright Field, flying at 28,000 feet was found no more uncomfortable than at 12,000 feet, the present ceiling for commercial flying. Although the temperature outside was 10 below zero, it remained 78 at all times inside as the supercharged air had been heated by the engines before forced into the cabin. Speeds up to 400 miles an hour are predicted for this type plane. In flights at 25,000 feet or more, the plane scars above most storms and in weather that is 90 percent sunshine. Photo measures 9.75 x 6.75 inches. Photo Is dated 1937. PHOTO FRONT PHOTO BACK Historic Images Part Number: nei34370 Sell Smarter with Kyozou.Inventory and Ecommerce Management
