The image shows a side-by-side contrast of Palmer in his military attire from 1917 and in a formal suit as a 35-year-old district manager in 1940.Carl M. Palmer was known for his early enlistment during World War I, having joined the Michigan National Guard at 12 years old in 1917. He notably served in the 126th Infantry and was later discharged when his true age was discovered.
