Description: For your consideration Original vintage 1960s Vietnam War era US Air Force 44th Tactical Fighter Squadron Silver Anniversary 1941 - 1966 silver (plated?) beer mug tankard … that belonged to Major McCabe who flew 100 Missions over North Vietnam with the 44th Tactical Fighter Squadron in the F-105D Thunderchief .. Kadena AFB on Okinawa ~ 13th Tactical Fighter Squadron out of Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base .. started his pilot training in 1953 during the Korean War .. he went on to become a USAF pilot instructor after he returned from Vietnam Selling some of this Vets other items soon .. so check back for other listings if interested Tankard reads: 44TH TFS Emblem below with ”8” in emblem insignia SILVER ANNIVERSARY 1941 - 1966 Bottom: No markings on bottom Beautiful mug .. was heavily tarnished on the outside you could hardly see the engraving ~ I polished as much as possible on the outside and underneath … I did not touch the interior .. mug shows some paint on rim ~ some minor surface wear ~ scratches / blemishes .. could use more polishing if desired I tested with a magnet and doesn’t stick .. it appears it has some silver in it .. not 100% sure Measures approximately 3” across top opening 3.5” across base 5” tall 4.5” wide Weighs approximately 11 ounces ** Bottle and dollar bill for size reference only Zoom in on photos for details and overall condition and message with any questions
