White, shiny, gently cleaned coin with mint luster remaining. Not well-struck through the mid and lower sections obverse, and the cleaning makes it harder to see the skirt lines. Poor strike was common for the 40's S mints. This coin has a little detail of the hand and decent skirt lines; a lot of MS coins have nothing through the middle. Reverse is strong and shows the true grade of the coin. Probably upper-ranges AU, scant amount of wear. Has a raised wire rim obverse from the R to her foot. Couple little rim nicks and a few other small marks about. One spot of toning on the wing. Weighs 12.5 grams.
