Restoring Windsor Castle to its former glory. - England The magnificent Waterloo Chamber, built by King William IV in the style of a ship's cabin. The walls are panelled with portraits of celebrities of the 18th century, mostly painted by Sir. Thomas Lawrence to commemorate the victory of the Allied powers over Napoleon. The beautiful mahogany table is used for State Banquets and can be extended to seat 150 persons. The carpet, was made for Queen Victoria in a Agra Prison. It is in this chamber that the Royal Pantomimes were held in which the Princesses played the leading parts. Here, too, the Waterloo Banquet is held every year on the anniversary of the great Battle, 18th June.Photo measures 8 x 10.25inches. Photo is dated --1946.
