The front of the note has a portrait of His Majesty King George VI facing forward, within a panel on the left. Similar panel for watermark shows a Lion standing on hind legs facing left with bent whip in right paw on the right. The ‘GOVERNMENT OF CEYLON’ at upper center above. The value in words ‘TWO RUPEES’ in single lines and in figures’2’ slanted on the top two corners. This note is legal tender for payment of any amount in an arc and two lines. The serial numbers (E38222523) is shown at the bottom of the note. The back of the note is violet on a lilac, green, and orange tint underprint. The ‘GOVERNMENT OF CEYLON’ is in an arc and centered on the top. The value in figures ‘2’ are shown in all 4 corners, with the upper two slanted. The pictorial in the center has a caption ‘SIGIRI ROCK’ with a lake and foliage in foreground. The certification of this banknote is uncertified, and it is a great piece of history from Ceylon (now known as Sri Lanka).
