Description: 1948 Napoli Italy Naples Castel Nuovo Travel Poster Vintage Original Date: 1948 Artist: Unknown Size (in): 39.25” x 24.25” Size (cm): 99.7 cm x 61.6 cm Condition: A- Linen backed: No This vintage original Italian travel poster advertising Napoli was issued by ENIT, the official Italian tourism authority, shortly after the end of WWII. This same poster design featuring an image of the Castel Nuovo, a Napoli landmark dating back to 1272, is found on other Italian travel posters dating back to at least the early 1930s. This edition here was issued in 1948. The lower left margin is printed “G. SCARPATI & Figlio – Napoli 1948 No. 1689”. The lower right margin is printed “AUTORIZZA.NE QUESTURA NAPOLI 9-12-48”. The lower margin is printed “ESENTE DA BOLLO Disciplina affissioni: D.L. 8-11-47 n.1417” and “Printed in Italy by ENIT”. This poster is free of tape or pinholes and shows only light handling wear including edges lightly bumped in places, a short tear without paper loss of less than inch on the bottom edge and small dark spot of less than a half inch in the lower margin near the right corner not affecting the image area. The colors remain robust and overall condition is very good for this vintage original.
