1949 Pacific Electric Railway train timetable -Los Angeles Long Beach San Pedro

Description: 1949 Pacific Electric Railway train timetable -Los Angeles Long Beach San Pedro Click images to enlarge Description Pacific Electric Railway (PER), also known as the Red Car system, was a privately owned mass transit system in Southern California consisting of electrically powered streetcars, light rail cars, and buses. It was the largest electric railway system in the world in the 1920s. Organized around the city centers of Los Angeles and San Bernardino, it connected cities in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties. The system shared dual-gauge track with the narrow-gauge Los Angeles Railway, or Yellow Car system for part of its route. Created in 1901, the PER gradually ended passenger service in the 1950s. For auction is a PER timetable listing rail services between Los Angeles-Long Beach and Los Angeles-San Pedro; it is dated April 8, 1949. Trains are listed by departure times. San Pedro trains departed Los Angeles (Main Street Station) and stopped at Watts (103rd Street), Compton (Compton Boulevard), Dominquez Junction, Wilmington (Avalon Boulevard Station) and San Pedro (6th Street Station). Long Beach trains left Los Angeles (Main Street Station), with stops at Watts, Compton, North Long Branch and Long Beach (Pacific Avenue Station). There are separate schedules for weekdays/Saturday and Sunday/Holidays. The timetable measures appx 6 1/2 x 2 3/4 inches closed, opens to appx  13 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches, and is printed on thin-weight paperstock. It is in excellent condition, in spite of being over 65 years old. There are no rips, tears, writing or markings. The timetable does have several light fold lines. A nice addition to the collection of the PER railfan.     Get images that make Supersized seem small.Showcase your items with Auctiva's Listing Templates! THE simple solution for eBay sellers.
