Description: RCA's model 9-BX-56 is sought after among portable AM tube radio collectors. This radio is in working order. It features an all plastic modernist housing with metal feet, drop down dial cover, gold accents and faux alligator band (molded, not faux fabric). It is operable as a plug-in or with battery power (battery connector cable is inside the case with a tag explaining how to use it). Working models of this radio are hard to find and we see one presently on market priced above $400. Ours is priced reasonably for the period and condition. In our restoration shop we did some minor cleaning inside the case, re-seated some tubes and brought this late 40s gem back to life. Internally everything looks quite good. We did not use any surface restorer and leave that decision to the purchaser. There is metal trim on the drop down dial cover which can easily have the minor oxidation removed with Brasso or Flitz. A few expected age related minor marks to case, scratches to back of case, we believe a round gold-tone piece is missing from the center of the clear plastic dial cover. Measures 10 1/2 inches wide x 5 inches deep x 8 1/4 inches tall (with carrying handle down). Weight is 5 lb 8 oz. Provenance: this radio came from the collection of Jack Warner of the Black Angus Ranch near Dodge City, Kansas and inside the case has a service tag from Nicholson's in Dodge City with service dates in 1957 and 1965. Shipping & Handling includes insurance. We pack professionally (see our Customer Reviews). This item leaves our store in full working condition however radio tubes can be damaged in transit and thus this ships insured with signature on receipt required (which cost is included in the shipping and handling).
