Description: 1950s Metal Pink Enamel Floral Hinged Trinket Vanity Box Lipstick Holder Japan This vintage, preowned hinged vanity box is in good and acceptable condition. It has been used and very much loved so it does show wear. This item was an import from Japan at the late 1950s to early 1960s. It is silver tone metal that has a floral relief pattern along with lightly painted pinkish enamel on the top cover. It is hinged and the hinges are in working order. The inside shows signs of wear and is showing signs of some rust and discoloration. There may have been a velvet liner inside at one time which would have gone around the side where it appears that the discolorations are mainly located. The inside and outside metal show signs of wear everywhere with surface scratching and rubbing. The has a very pretty ornate flower relief patter along with a scalloped styling. The bottom is especially fun with a heart pattern and the markings KT Made in Japan. The outside bottom does have small areas of discoloration. It is a solid item weighing in at 5 ounces for it's small size. The item reminds me of a lipstick holder but it does not lock, but it could have been on a vanity top to hold a lipstick or other cosmetic. It could have been used for jewelry, medications, coins or trinkets. Measuring with it facing you this item measures almost 1.5" long x almost 4" wide x 1" tall.
