Description: This is a large lot (14 items) of paper ephemera related to events at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, California from 1953-1961. These are from scrapbooks of Harold B Starkey and his wife Augusta, who were very involved in the San Diego social, financial and charity community. The gem of the collection is a large crown-shaped program for the 1953 Charity Bill for crippled children, which must have been held at the Hotel Del's famed Crown Room. There are also 4 large Charity Ball magazines with all kinds of interesting advertisements and information on the San Diego scene of this period. Note that the magazine backs were glued in and have substantial damage to the back--two are missing the back cover and one cover is detached from the staples. There are also 2 large menu/attendee lists with a French theme (one with slit in cover for something) and a 1959 "Information for Ushers" at the Hotel Del event, 3 items related to Navy League meetings at the hotel (damage to backs) and a couple small cocktail invitations. Possibly the only surviving copies. See photos for a more complete picture! See my other San Diego historical listings also. Fair-good overall but condition varies, many removed or soaked from scrapbooks with some wear, rippling, fading or damage/loss to backs, see photos. Some with hand-written notes also.
