Rare promotional poster featuring a vintage track photo of Juan Manuel Fangio's 1954 Mercedes W196 Silver Arrow, which Fangio drove to the second of his five F1 World Driver Championships. Bonhams hammered the car away for a record-busting 17.5 million at its 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed auction. The buyer paid a total of about $31.6 million US for the 2 1/2-liter straight-eight single seat F1 car, chassis number 00006/54. Fangio piloted the car to victory in the 1954 German and Swiss Grands Prix, the Mercedes-Benz factory team's first back-to-back victories in its post-war racing comeback. W196 Silver Arrow pioneered the use of the fuel-injected engine in Formula 1, and also introduced the Mercedes-Benz all-independent suspension, multi-tubular space frame lightweight chassis design, and inboard-mounted brakes on all four wheels.
