Most were former members and leaders of the Nazi Party.Arthur Rudolph, a German rocket engineer who helped develop the V-2 rocket for Nazi Germany, was granted U.S. citizenship in 1954. He was a leader of the U.S. space program, working on the Pershing missile and the Saturn V Moon rocket. However, in 1984, the U.S. government investigated Rudolph for war crimes and he renounced his citizenship and left the country.
