Description: 1955 Topps Double Headers #71/72 -- SGC 96 Gair Allie & Grady Hatton. Scarce unperforated variety. Graded MINT 96 by SGC. Qualities include virtually perfect centering (rare for this issue), four sharp corners, superior color & registration, and a fine reverse side. This is the highest SGC-graded unperforated example with no other comparable specimens (Pop 1). The ratio of perforated to unperforated 1955 Topps Double Headers is slightly more than 37 to 1. There are currently 8,129 perforated and 216 unperforated cards that have been professional graded by SGC, PSA, and BVG. There is much speculation among hobbyists as to the source of these rare, unperforated 1955 Topps Double Headers. Due to the population figures, the condition, the means of distribution, as well as the distinctive factory cuts they possesses, it is most likely that a small number of these unperforated cards made their way out of the factory before the perforations were added. As such, they are, in all probability, a pre-production sample that was never sold in wax packs.
