Description: This 1956 Gray Castle San Diego High School Year Book is signed & dedicated by 2 Students who were both Seniors that year and who both went on to be Professional Athletes, they were Major League Baseball Player Deron Johnson & National Football League Player Willie West.I have scanned the each players dedication above. I also scanned 7 pages in the annual in which both players signed on the same page. I also included scans of each players main yearbook photographs. There are several more photographs that I did not have enough scans to scan.Each Player signed the Yearbook Multiple Times and each wrote a dedication to the former student owner of this yearbook and signed those dedications.Deron Roger Johnson (July 17, 1938 – April 23, 1992) was an American professional baseball player. Born in San Diego, California, he played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball as an infielder, outfielder, and designated hitter for the New York Yankees, Kansas City & Oakland Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, Atlanta Braves, and Milwaukee Brewers during his 15-year major league career.He later served as a coach for 13 seasons with the California Angels (1979–80; 1989–92), New York Mets (1981), Philadelphia Phillies(1982–84), Seattle Mariners (1985–86), and Chicago White Sox (1987). Johnson was serving as a coach with California when he was diagnosed with lung cancer, which claimed his life on April 23, 1992, at the age of 53. Willie Tennyson West (born May 1, 1938) is an American Football former defensive Back. He played for nine seasons professionally: for the NFL St. Louis Cardinals; and for the American Football League's Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and Miami Dolphins. He was an AFL All-Star the Bills in 1063, and for the Dolphins in 1966. On November 2, 2007, he was inducted into University of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame.
