Description: For reasons that should be obvious, this captivating Cope-designed piece is among the HNH "Top 100" of desirable McCoy items. (See HNH Vol. II, at p. 154.) Usually called the "Pussy at the Well" planter, it features one of the trademark Cope captions: "Stung by the splendor of a sudden thought." And just so pretty. Except for some faint crazing at the base, this piece is flawless. The rich glaze sparkles on the visible parts of the figure; the cat is nicely painted and just glistens. I keep noticing new details on these Cope designs -- like the watering can on the backside of this one, half-hidden in the foliage. Hard to find this piece without damage top the cat or the tree leaves. This offering is part of our slow-motion estate sale -- Mother collected McCoy for about 40 years, with all periods represented in her vast collection, so let us know if you are looking for a particular McCoy piece. Each item will be meticulously cleaned and shipped with the utmost care. We try to use all recycled/reused boxes and packing materials, so the box you receive may not be beautiful, but rest assured, your item is safe! (I used to ship eggs from our farm, as far as Alaska!) Hoping to find good homes for Mom's treasures!
