Description: June 1958 The United States Naval War College Staff & Students Book. This book was Owned by LtCol Harold Comstock a WWII Fighter Ace with the 56th Fighter Group. The book is in very good condition with only two pages towards the back creased in an “earmark” position. Opposing the inside cover is (4) sharpie type lines drawn to cover previous writing. Comstock name is typed into the book towards the back in a section titled Duty Assignments…he was an instructor at the school at the time. Astronaut to be Alan Shepard was also in this book. I am sure there are many other famous military men & women in this book, those were the two that jumped out at me. Harold Elwood "Bunny" Comstock (20 December 1920 – 3 April 2009) was an American fighter ace in the 56th Fighter Group during World War II, and a career fighter pilot in the United States Air Force. After a test flight of the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt on 13 November 1942, Republic Aviation issued a press release on 1 December 1942 claiming that he and fellow pilot, Lieutenant Roger Dyar had exceeded the speed of sound.
