Description: Handsome fold-out 1958 road map of the historic Ocean Highway from New York City to Miami, printed more than 63 years ago. The map opens to 20" x 18" and was published by the Ocean Hiway Association, P.O. Box 1552, Wilmington, Delaware. It is dated 1958 on the cover. The northern section of the route followed U.S. 13, through Delaware, Maryland, and the eastern shore of Virginia. The southern section followed U.S. 17 through North and South Carolina, Georgia, and northern Florida. The route utilized the ferry from Cape Charles across the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. There is a photograph of the S.S. Princess Anne, one of the ferries in service at the time, on the reverse side, along with a small inset of Norfolk and vicinity. Condition: This map is in very good, lightly used condition, with no rips or tears. A previous owner has written some mileadge calculations in the upper margin, and there's a small spot on the cover.
