Description: This week I'm offering a number of old non-sport cards from various vintage sets. In Fifties, record companies were scrambling to find the next Elvis, the next teen sensation. As was common in that industry, they found some modestly-talented kid and "manufactured" him, grooming him with music lessons, pumping up the publicity machine, and so forth. Fabian Forte was supposed to be the next big thing. Ultimately, he wasn't. But in the meantime, Topps figured that they had made a ton of money with their 1956 set showcasing Elvis, so why not do the same for Fabian? Didn't work out that way, but today, these cards make for a charming time capsule into a much more innocent era. The fronts feature posed shots of the teen idol, and the backs feature questions from and answers to the fans. This has remained one of the more popular and sought-after sets for non-sport collectors. Here I have card #26 from the series, titled "Recording Session." It's in very nice shape (see scans for condition). All in all, a set designed to appeal to any collector. This would be a terrific addition to any collection! Payment is via PayPal; shipping is $2.25 for First Class Mail, and postage will be combined for multiple winnings. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
