This is the 22 September 1960, 100 francs note issued by the Bank of the Republic of Mali. The note depicts the image of Modibo Keïta Mali's first president after its independence from France. The note is dated September 22, 1960 and is brown in color over a yellow colored background. The back of the note has the image of cattle within a brown and white colored frame. The front of the note has two signatures, the serial number as well as the denomination. The back only shows the denomination. This particular note has the serial number 580709 and is from series D44, both of which are printed in red on the front. The banknote has no watermark that we could find. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description. Date: 22 September 1960 (supposedly the note was issued in 1962 but was post dated to the date of the independence in 1960). Printer: Unknown Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/16" by ~3 5/16". Pick Number: P 2. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a good fine or much better (I am tempted too say very fine) with all the details being well preserved. The note has several vertical folds and horizontal folds and some wrinkling. The note appears to have been flattened. The note still retains some of its stiffness and has light general soiling as well as some minor staining. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, no tears and no splits. The edges are intact with minor roughness. The corners are intact but show some rounding with some folds and creases. Colors are clear and relatively bright. This is a great looking rare note, which would make a nice addition to your collection. Please see the scan for additional condition information.
