Description: Vintage 1960-1961 Sheaffer Target Touch Down Fountain Pen Black Rare Gorgeous vintage Sheaffer Target Black fountain pen. Introduced in June 1960, the Sheaffer Target is actually the direct predecessor to the Sheaffer Imperial III and carries over to the Imperial lineup with no apparent changes. The Target is fitted with a short version of the Triumph nib. Although it resembles the two-tone 14 karat gold nibs on the earlier Snorkel pens, the Target's nib is made of palladium silver and the base portion of the nib is gold plated. This same pen design, with a different nib section, becomes the model 800 "Dolphin" pen in late 1962. The Target appears to have only been offered as a Touchdown model and only with a matching pencil. It has a gold filled 1/4 inch cap band and a gold filled ear clip stamped "SHEAFFER'S" Physically, all parts of this pen look good. However, this is not tested and sold as is. It might need some restoration and tuning. The nib seems to need some tuning. Perfect for fountain pen collectors and collectors who like to restore vintage pens. The pen is about 5 1/4 inches capped, 4 3/4 inches uncapped, and 5 3/4 inches posted. Please check all the photos for details, size and condition before bidding and let us know if you have questions.
