Description: Here is a vintage 1960's era Spalding Don Drysdale model 42-382 Tra-Pocket baseball glove for a LH thrower. Drysdale was a right-handed pitcher, so this is an off-hand glove. The catalog info I have doesn't show this model glove in it, but it would appear to be a mid 1960's model and a midline glove made for a younger player. I can still get my adult hand into the glove a bit snuggly. The glove measures 11" long through the palm. The stamping on the front of the glove is T-Bar Web, Don Drysdale Pro Model, Tra-Pocket, 42-382, The "S" Spalding logo and Special Select (leather), E-Z Flex, Spalding and Made in USA. On the back is stamped 100% Nylon Stitched, Tra Pocket, Pat. No. 187,518, Pat. No. 2,995,756 and Pat. No. 188,307. There is a nice original Spalding cloth patch on the backstrap. There is no owners ink on the glove. Nice and soft leather exterior and soft and smooth interior leather, with no chafing. There are a couple of straight marks you might see on the palm where the hand goes, but no cracking in the leather. Light use on the glove. The leather piping is nice and intact. The original Spalding patch is nice with light wear. The leather lacing is intact and original. Good form to the glove. The stamping is all readable.Don Drysdale, nicknamed "Big D", was a right-handed throwing baseball player and broadcaster, He played his entire 14-year career with the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers. Known for being a fierce competitor, Drysdale won the Cy Young Award in 1962 and was a three-time World Series champion during his playing career. Drysdale made his major league debut in 1956. He quickly made a reputation for himself as a brushback pitcher who was not afraid to pitch inside to batters in order to keep them off balance. Often overshadowed by teammate and Dodgers ace Sandy Koufax, Drysdale nevertheless made his own mark, winning the Cy Young Award in 1962 and setting a record six consecutive shutouts and 58+2⁄3 consecutive scoreless innings in 1968. Drysdale was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984 and, the same year, had his number 53 retired by the Los Angeles Dodgers. After his playing career ended in 1969, Drysdale became a radio and television broadcaster until his sudden death from a heart attack in 1993.I have other gloves and mitts on eBay now as auctions and/or Buy it Now, and I like to combine shipping whenever possible.
