Description: Hall of Famer Rod Gilbert's Rookie Card #62 from the 1961-62 Topps hockey set. Sportscard Guaranty Corp (SGC) has certified it as EX-MT+ 6.5. Good centering with clean surfaces front and back and a sharp image of the young HOFer against a bold green and yellow background. Mild corner wear just keeps it from the NMT 7 grade. Rod Gilbert played his entire 16-season Hall of Fame career with the New York Rangers. After a brilliant last year with teammate and future fellow Ranger Jean Ratelle in junior hockey and a year of seasoning in the minors (he played one game each year with New York), he became a superstar in the Big Apple. One of the best to never hoist the Cup, his scoring line was 406 - 615 - 1,021 and plus 38 in 1,065 games and 34 - 33- 67 in 79 playoff games. Retired after thr 1977-78 season. Elected to Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982. Insured shipping is free for BIN and comes with Authenticity Guarantee. I am also listing the rookie card, from the same 1961-62 Topps set, of Rod Gilbert's juiniors teammate and teammate with the Rangers for sixteen seasons, fellow HOFer Jean Ratelle, also graded by SGC as EX+ 5.5 - an extremely sharp example.
