Description: Handsome fold-out 1962 Esso road map of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, printed more than 59 years ago. The map opens to 25" x 24" and has great detail on old highway alignments, with cartography by the General Drafting Company. On the reverse side there are inset plans of Memphis, Baton Rouge, Little Rock, Fort Smith, Shreveport, Jackson, and New Orleans. The map was distributed by the Humble Oil & Refining Company to promote its Esso brand and is dated October 1962 in the legend. The code number on the back cover is W862. The artwork on the front cover shows Beauvoir, in Biloxi, on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. This stately mansion was the home of Jefferson Davis during the last 12 years of his life.
