This is an original press photo. Hot Blood Long Cooled: A legend in his lifetime, William Anderson (Devil Anse) Hatfield lived long after the famous Hatfield-McCoy family feud of the 1880's, and died of pneumonia 45 years ago. Head of the Hatfields of West Virginia, he helped trigger the prolonged battle with the McCoys of Kentucky. An unknown number of Hatfields and McCoys died, but Devil Anse lived to 82. He died January 6, 1921. This life-sized statue, sculptured in Italy, marks his grave in the Hatfield cemetery in Logan County, West Virginia.Photo measures 7 x 9.25inches. Photo is dated 12-13-1965.
