Check out my other great 1966 Lots and Singles About 1966 Topps Topps was back in 1966 with another 598 card set. This set offers a simple and attractive design that keeps the focus on photography. More often than not, Topps best offerings have taken this approach. The front of the 1966 Topps Baseball cards features the team name in a diagonal stripe along the upper left corner. The player's name and position are highlighted in a bar at the bottom. The rarer high number series (not included in this lot) spans numbers 523-598. As is typical of the era, these cards are scarcer and more difficult to find in top condition. As a result, they carry a premium over the other cards. The key rookies in this set are Jim Palmer, Don Sutton, and Fergie Jenkins. Apparently, it was a good year for pitchers. As I seem to note in every set of the era, printing problems and centering are a major issue for the set. Topps also has a habit of putting a really key card at the ends of the set, increasing the challenge of finding them in top condition. In this case, Willie Mays leads off the set. Overall, this is another great 1960 offerings from Topps, continuing what may have been the strongest stretch of sets in their history. Check out my other great 1966 Lots and Singles 1391
