Only the 2002 miniature painting is included in this listing, not the catalog referenced. ___________________________________________________ ITEM- 1970's-80's Betty Spice Early American Dollhouse Miniature Painting Girl in White Dress with Flower DESCRIPTION- Gorgeous Early American Painting of an unknown girl in white dress holding flower on her lap by Betty Spice, estimated to have been painted in the late 1970's or early 1980's. Betty was a talented artist who did business under the name the Man Hatter. Better was very talented in various mediums. She made hats in both felt & leather, wooden Bliss-style toys, some wooden country furniture, & she painted: oil paintings, leather items like fire buckets & firemen parade helmets, tole tinware, hat boxes, chinoiserie, wooden toys, and did decorative painting on other artist's country furniture. This painting is superb & sublime & I love the dark background, something almost never seen in dollhouse portraits but it really makes the subject pop noticeable in the juxtaposition of light & dark color to the composition makes it very pleasing to the eye, especially offset by a frame in a stunning warm gold color. IMO, the best painting of hers I've ever seen & no question the best portrait, though she made some great still-life paintings also. Measures 2 & 7/16" tall X 2" wide counting frame. All my previous & future measurements of anything framed are including the frames. CONDITION- Vintage previously owned, no damage, no issues.
