The D8 is probably the perfect first Live Steam Engine to give as a present.This model was (unfortunately) discontinued by Wilesco a while back and the closest similar engine is the D10 that is a bit larger. https://www.wilesco-shop.de/en/stationary-steam-engines/d10-steam-engine.htmlA new D10 is currently 236.50 Euros (US$250).A new D8 would probably a bit over $200. This engine is in very good condition.It has been air tested (video) and should not give much trouble to operate on steam.It needs a thorough cleaning. For the boiler calcium residue, I recommend water with vinegar and CLR. It works well.The external white residue is polish remnant and is easy to clean. This engine is complete and all original, including the original box that is in very poor condition.The whistle seems to blow continuously and probably needs resetting. You will need some solid fuel pellets (anywhere camping supplies are sold) and distilled water is strongly recommended (to avoid the calcium residue). Please select the shipping system that suits you best. Condition : This Live Steam Engine is in very good condition. It has been air tested (video) and should not give any trouble to operate on steam. It is complete, including the original box that is in very poor condition. That was 65 years ago. I have been collecting them for 25 years and I am now 74. None of my descendants is interested in the collection, so I decided that it was time to liquidate. As of October 2024, I still have over 1,300 engines of all kinds to list. I believe in full disclosure. It takes me about an hour to list one item, between the assessment, the testing, the video, the photos, the description and the very careful packaging. I try to have very reasonable prices.
