Having turned up the volume considerably, Xavier de Callatay goes back to his drawing table and picks up his brush. Dipping the brush in a small puddle of Chinese ink, the artist begins to recreate on paper the Battle of New Orleans. The famous battle is one of many scenes comprising a mural de Callatay was commissioned to paint for the Greater New Orleans Tourist and Convention Commission. The photographic mural -- a gigantic reproduction of Callatay's work -- literally papers the four walls of the main reception room in the tourist center building at 334 Royal Street.
