Description: This is a program from the very first game of the 1972 Summit Series between the NHL players of Canada versus the team from the Soviet Union. It was purchased at the game, which I attended, on September 2, 1982. It shows some wear on the outside, with some small markings near the outside folds. After all, I purchased this at the game, and I believe I read it a bit and then sat on it to prevent damage. Inside, the pages are unmarked and not torn in any way. It was a game that I will always remember. I was sitting up about 15 rows behind the Soviet bench. After Esposito scored in the first minute and then Henderson scored not too long after to give Canada a 2-0 lead, I will never forget all the fans around us sitting back with a smile and enjoying what they thought would be an easy victory. Of course, that did not happen. The Soviets stormed back and overwhelmed Canada and ended up winning 7-3. The fans around me who were smiling so assuredly early in the game were totally stunned. The series would go on to be historic. With the games in Moscow broadcast live in the afternoon in Canada, everything shut down. Everybody was glued around TV sets. I have had this program for 52 years in our air conditioned and smoke free homes. Please see the untouched images for the exact item that you will receive and please determine the condition for yourself, as I am not a professional collector. Again, it appears to be in very good condition with some minimal wear which is to be expected for an item that is over 50 years old. I will ship this item within one business day to the ebay verified address. Thank you.
