Please see my other listings. 😁 FIGHT DESCRIPTION Billed as “The Sunshine Showdown”, the bout between Smokin’ Joe Frazier vs. George Foreman was a pro boxing World Heavyweight Title Fight in Kingston Jamaica in The Carribean, contested on January 22, 1973, for the WBA, WBC and The Ring heavyweight championships. Joe Frazier was the undisputed World Heavy Weight Boxing Champion at the time, with George Foreman rated as the number one rated challenger. Boxing commentator Howard Cosell famously hydterically repeated the phrase “Down goes Frazier!!” each time Foreman knocked Frazier to the canvas. In retrospect the bout has become more known as the “Down goes Frazier!!” bout rather than the “The Sunshine Showdown”. Foreman dominated the fight and knocked Frazier to the canvas a total of 6 times. The bout was all over at only the 1 min 35 sec mark of round 2 with a TKO. Foreman unsuccessfuly defended his title against Muhammad Ali in the epic “Rumble in The Jungle” World Heavyweight Title Fight in Zaire, Africa on 30 Oct. 1974.
