Description: Very rare Official Inaugural VIP SPECIAL Gold Plated Official Inaugural medal from President Richard from his 2nd Inaugural in 1973 (in the actual midst of Watergate) . These special Inaugural medals were specially produced for President Nixon by Medallic Art Co to present to his Cabinet and GOP VIPs only. This Official VIP Inaugural medal is handsomely Gold plated bronze and sealed in lucite block with Gold lettering at bottom reading "With Best Wishes ~ Richard Nixon". These lucite sealed VIP Medals were meant to be desk displays (measures roughly 3 1/2" x 4" in size). Medal looks superb with a nice attractive finish and housed in its original clam shell gold trim presentation case with gold Seal of the President on cover in fair to good condition as well. According to the late Joe Levine, the recognized expert and leading dealer in this area of Presidential collectibles for 45+ years), only 700 were made for President Nixon for his second Inaugural in 1973. These rarely show up individually (I see a couple of individual ones on ebay at present selling at $325 or more each) .
