Description: Very rare nice historical collectible from LAGUNA BEACH, CALIFORNIA. Bronze Commemorative Coin embedded in LUCITE Paperweight. This was for the LAGUNA BEACH~MAIN BEACH PARK DEDICATION~June 22, 1974~The city of Laguna had purchased a large piece of property along the ocean front and removed small business & buildings that were there in order to redo the area to make a "WINDOW TO THE SEA", allowing an unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean for drivers & pedestrians. The famous Lifeguard tower is a focal point along with a newly redone curving boardwalk and grassy areas, basketball courts, picnic tables, etc. The park was dedicated in a day-long event that included many local and state officials. This is a commemorative paperweight from that day. LUCITE measures 2 7/8" x 2 7/8" x 3/4". It's completely transparent but is not "crystal clear" color, it has a bit of a yellow or amber tinge to the Lucite. "COIN" or MEDALLION embedded is 1 1/2" across. One side has the date and Main Beach Park Dedication, June 22, 1974 with images of the lifeguard tower, boardwalk, beach, people walking, etc. The reverse side has "CITY OF LAGUNA BEACH", "CALIFORNIA" with a center image of the classic coastline/beach view. CONDITION: there is a chip at one corner (see photos for details) this would be an amazing historical item for your collection for coastal communities or Laguna Beach culture.
