When describing the car to his brother Jake Blues, Elwood says, “It’s got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It’s got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It’s a model made before catalytic converters so it’ll run good on regular gas.” The sedan has the ability to perform seemingly impossible stunts, such as flipping backwards in midair and even “flying” for very brief periods of time. Clearly unimpressed, especially considering the cigarette lighter does not work, Elwood slams on the gas and jumps over an open drawbridge. Jake nonchalantly states, “Car’s got a lot of pickup.” Elwood retorts, “So what do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?” Jake replies, “Fix the cigarette lighter.” Auto World proudly presents a detailed replica of the Bluesmobile with the loud speaker mounted on the roof that Jake and Elwood broad-casted their upcoming “Blues Extravaganza” fund raising concert.
