Description: Shipped with USPS First Class. We are listing a collection of original Cuban silkscreen posters that we acquired in the mid 1980s through our gallery Poster America in NYC. All of these posters were smuggled into the US via diplomatic pouch by a member of Cuba's UN Delegation. They were first exhibited at our gallery banning+Low in Kensington, MD in 2005 upon the expiration of the statute of limitations for contraband. All of the posters by Reboiro are pencil signed by the artist, representing that they are the Artist Proof of that edition. A note to us from Antonio on the back of one of the envelopes is included all of listings of his work. The popularity of constructivist influenced Cuban graphic design has led to the reproduction of many of these posters. WE SELL ONLY ORIGINAL ITEMS. The rarity of these posters (generally only 350-500 of each were ever originally made) is enhanced by the fragility of the posters themselves. The use of heavy inks on relatively brittle paper means that most of the few remaining originals have been lost to the ravages of time. Most, but not all, of our collection is in excellent or better condition. Our posters have been stored flat in between mylar sheets in a controlled environment. That being said, photographs are an integral part of the item description and will be the best way to ascertain the specifics of condition. Antonio Fernández Reboiro Born Camagüey, Cuba, 1935.
